I just knew I wouldn’t have to take Senior Portfolio, but when I realized I’d taken enough classes to be a joint major that was the only class missing. We were given a list of topics to pick from and I chose medical illustration. While I didn’t want to take the class with a 10-page single-spaced research paper, a minimum of 10 pieces related to the topic and portfolio I’m glad I did.
Most of my work is portraiture and focuses on emotions. Being forced to create 10 pieces around an unfamiliar topic was actually a fun challenge. I learned as I worked and found a new obsession, black canvases. Honestly, every canvas I’ve worked on since starting has been painted black, even commissions. My projects ranged from canvas to animation and graphic design. I chose to cover different mediums and imagery to explore the wide variety of uses for medical illustration. Below are a few of my favorites.
